The Committee is responsible to manage and control Water Pollution,Air Pollution and preservation of the quality of Air & Water in U.T of Chandigarh.

The functions of the committee are specified in detail under Section 17(1) and 17(2) of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and under Section 17(1) and 17(2) of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981
